Studied in the Government School of Arts and Crafts, Chennai from 1951-56 and 1965-66.

He graduated in the first class in Advanced Painting, enjoying the good fortune to study under great teachers like D P Roy Choudry, K C S Panikar, S Dhanapal and H V Ramgopal.

He currently lives in Chennai. He has held several solo shows and participated in a number of group exhibitions across India. To name a few important events:

• Group show at Guard Gallery, Cranbury, NJ, USA in 2013
• Artist camps at Rishikesh in 2009 and 2013
• The 44th National Exhibition at Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi held at Ahmedabad in 2002
• Artist Camp in memory of noted artist K M Adimoolam in 2009
• Part of the selection jury for the annual art exhibition conducted by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad in 2008
